eXtreme Gammon 2 Level of Play

The following data are from a set of 1000 games played between XG1 3-ply. The games were analyzed using each level (normal Search interval). All the differences (for level greater than 2-ply) were rolled out using a 1296 games 3-ply Rollout (made using version 2). Differences for 1-ply and 2-ply were analyzed using XGR+.

A total of  14,376  move candidates and 546 Double decisions were rolled. There was a total of 35,894 non trivial decisions (30,360 moves, 5534 cubes).

The resulting normalized equity lost by each level is aggregated in the table below. The error are calculated from 3-ply Rollout, which is not perfect. Neil Kazaross's guess is that it creates a 0.3 PR difference (meaning XGRoller++ may be around 0.43 PR)

Note: XGRoller level has been redesigned in version 2 so it is a level between 3 and 4 ply in term of speed and strength (in version 1 , 4-ply and XGR are quite equivalent).

Here is a graph showing the Strength vs Speed:
Red: eXtreme Gammon Version 2
Blue: eXtreme Gammon Version 1
Purple: GnuBG
Orange: Snowie
Green: BGBlitz

Levels: 3r=3-ply Red, 3=3-ply, X=XGroller, 4=4-ply, +=XRoller+, 5=5-ply, ++=XGroller++
